A free animation screening presented by ASIFA Portland:
"We'll be screening a great series of Pre-Hays Cartoons of the 1930s, 7pm on February 10th, at Words with Pictures, 1100 SE Division. These films are akin to the imagery replicated by those madcap Moldenhauers - though they were created before the Hays Office declared standards for short theatrical films.
The shorts being screened are generally bizarre, only faintly offensive by modern standards, and it'll be a great show for kids and adults alike. The Hays Code often gets declared as a stuffy line of censorship of sex and drugs, but it also called out the offensiveness of human abuse of race, creed, gender, even mistreatment of our dear beasties."
